Agustín, Director and Spanish Professor

Agustín is a “Norteño” from Mexicali, Baja California: the hottest city in Mexico. After practicing for some time as an engineer, Agustín decided to explore the world through backpacking. After a six month stay in Canada, and another year in Europe, he decided to settle down in Paris where he remained for five years. There he found his true calling as a Spanish teacher and language school coordinator. With his rich experience in France, he decided to return to Mexico with Rachel to accomplish his dream of creating a different school.
Passions: The movies, graphic novels and politics..

 

Rachel, Director and Educational Coordinator

Rachel is originally from Toulouse, France and has a wealth of experience as a teacher of French to foreigners in Paris. At Calle 55, she trains teachers in the communicative method and stimulates their creativity to develop dynamic and fun educational activities. She also takes care of the administrative side of the organization and activities, and spends part of her evenings practicing her true passion: teaching French.
Passions: Literature, cinema and exhibitions.

 

Miguel, Spanish Professor

Miguel is from Mexico City where he studied theater and dramatic literature. At the end of his studies, he explored the dramatic possibilities of street theater. His passion for discovery brought him to the Yucatan where he became aware of the cultural relevance of Merida. Wishing to share his passion for language and Mexican culture, he took the step from the stage to the classroom and put his knowledge and energy into the service of teaching Spanish.
Passions: bike rides, the literature, the cinema, writing and performing in plays

 

Pablo, Spanish Professor

Pablo has Yucatan in the blood. After living abroad (USA, Norway) for a few years, he moved back to his hometown, Mérida. Summarized in two words, Pablo is creative and sociable; He spends much of his time painting and doing graffiti and he loves socializing and connecting with different cultures. These two qualities make him a great animator and pedagogue who is always inventive in his classroom techniques. Pablo knows all about nightlife in Mérida and also organizes parties and exhibitions in the underground gallery “Dicho Lugar”, a gallery that he has created with a group of friends.
Passions: pop-art, all types of modern music, independent cinema

 

Susana, Spanish Professor

Susana is a native of Barcelona, Spain. During a trip a few years ago, Susana fell in love with Mexico. Soon after, she decided to completely change her life, leave Spain and settle in Mérida. Dynamic and patient, she gives the time required for students to gain confidence. Passionate about Maya culture, she attends all conferences and exhibitions regarding the subject. Always wanting to better understand her students, she studied the Maya language to gain awareness of the difficulties of learning a new language.
Passions: The Mayan culture and the living conditions of indigenous women
